Our Organization
The Montgomery County Medical Society represents over 1,600
physicians in the county, each of whom is dedicated to the health
and well-being of the community and the betterment of the profession.
With other component medical societies in Maryland, we form
MedChi, the State Medical Society, and the American Medical
Association.
Helping Physicians to Better Serve
Their Patients
Helping physicians face the challenges of dealing with third-party
payers, governmental regulations, and other outside forces intruding
on the practice of medicine is the Society's greatest mission.
In cooperation with our sister medical societies, we represent
Maryland physicians in Congress, the State House, and the agencies
that regulate the delivery of health care. MCMS is also respected
in the community for promoting quality health care, for its
role in delivering that health care to the underserved, and
for its excellent community service programs. The Society is
well known among its member physicians for conducting a relentless
campaign to preserve physicians' autonomy in an ever-increasing
regulatory environment. Membership and active participation
in the medical society is no longer just a privilege; it has
become a necessity.
Strength in Numbers
Since 1903, the Montgomery County Medical Society has been at
the forefront with public relations, community outreach programs,
and legislative initiatives that advance the cause of medicine,
our members, and their patients. It provides a forum for the
exchange of information and ideas, and offers numerous opportunities
for personal and professional growth. The strength of this Society
lies in its committees, which work to create and implement programs
and policies for the medical community as a whole, and in its
close relationship with MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society.
